My Friend

My friend,
She climbed back into her shell,
She goes there for protection,
It’s not hell!

My dear friend,
She wants not to suffocate,
She wants to break free,
Open the garden gate.

My lovely friend,
She has a secret,
Not very dark,
She wants to keep it.

My complex friend,
Wishes to be understood,
Not to be taken for granted,
Wants to feel good.

My true friend,
Can see into me,
Sometimes I’m scared,
I can’t hide anything.

Who’s my friend?
Not my weekend?
Where I don’t pretend
Till the beautiful end.

The Same Moon

Do you observe the same moon as me?
Even when we are miles apart?
You know, it’s the same Sea of Tranquillity,
It’s still the same feeling in my heart.

Do you sense my adrenalin rush?
When I want to call you on the phone
And I cannot get in touch
I’m missing you so much,

Did you sleep in cradled arms?
Cosy warm and with sweet dreams,
Just knowing and being in my thoughts,
Me, keeping you safe from harm.

Do you know I never wish to lose?
The one true friend whos?
We share our thoughts and pains,
Keeping us going, when we sway!

Never begin to lose your thread,
Always maintain composure,
Don’t peek over the edge,
We will always be closer,
Than anyone can image!!

Society Now

what is my purpose?
why am I here?
why do I exist?
why do I fear?

Where is my sense of wonder?
my awe of just being,
my creationist senses nothing,
To life what am I bringing?

My purpose has no goal,
no expectations being met,
no happiness in my lifeless soul,
today society is sucking me dead.

this day I met man,
friendly enough to me,
but I found him so elitist,
treats people with inequality.

the stock market plummets,
the stock market soars,
our lively hoods depend on it,
the morning mail arrives, P45 on the floor.

anonymous fat-cats, bailed for their failure,
government giving bank handouts,
not a Samaritans favour,
payment for an act, pseudo criminal behaviour

give me my simple life, where my name is known,
let me till the fields and reap the seeds I’ve sown,
warm me by the fire and in the heart of my family,
enjoy the company of strangers, without fear or anonymity.

5-A-Day

Are you getting your 5-A-Day?
Government advice keeping cancer at bay!
do you raise your heartbeat for 30 minutes,
a brisk jog or by reaching stress limits?
have you done your good deed for the day?
and helped your neighbour across the way?
been in a mood with your partner?
for not remembering the anniversary?
Whatever it is you need to do!
to make yourself feel good about you!
You know what can bring a smile to your face?
to free the child within; with a warm embrace!
Is never give in to external pressure,
relent for a moment or let go of forever!
keep the dream alive and smile at the world,
never let heartache defeat or emotions unfurl,
to a point where no-one can reach you,
where you wish to shrug your mortal coil,
look within, having the strength, breath deeply in,
close your eyes, be at the sandy beach,
feeling warm gentle breeze and midsummer heat,
and feel positive happy childhood memories,
in the days gone by and which used to be,
never ending summers, first loves and beauty,
idealistic thoughts and never a tragedy.
breath in again and feeling so happy,
feel joy in your heart, warmth in your belly,
the world will never always be right,
but you know, you can be in your special place,
where no-one can touch you, but me in this space!
and make love to you on your birthday,
even if only virtually..........
